I've recently completed my Honky Dory after 1 year, 6 months and 2 days.
At a total cost including tools and building my own trailer $8000.00 CND, a touch more than expected.
I've added more features than the plans called for... a great bonus to building your own boat.
I've used some of "Montana boatbuilders" (thank you Jason) designs coupled with what I would like/need to have in my boat.
The original plans were great and easy to follow. The original high-sided design was not applicable, so I cut 2"
off the height from front to back. I've added level floors; steam bent oak knee braces, the round transom and huge dry boxes.

I designed my anchor system and Tig welded 316 stainless and machined all the pulleys.
The 28 lb anchor is stainless, an environmental decision I made. I've rowed a manufactured fiberglass boat, and hated it!
They are slow and heavy and to be honest quite ugly. The "stich and glue" boats are a dream to row, very responsive,
lightweight and they look great. I truly enjoyed building this boat, and enjoy the looks it gets when I take it fishing.
I urge anyone to build a "stich and glue" if they truly want a strong, durable and good-looking boat.
Thanks again Sandy and Jason
