Andrew McHarney's Jig:

It is similar to the tool shown in the plans.
I started with a piece of 1/4" hardboard 4inches wide and about 24 inches long, beveled to 30degrees on one side.
To this I attached a 1x4 (also beveled to 30 degrees also 24 inches long) using glue and staples.
You now have a 30degree V shaped piece.
Screw the plate of the saw to the 1x4 with the bevel tight up against the blade
(you will have to adjust the bevel of the saw as you do this to get the scarf angle you desire).
The 1/4" hardboard is now the plate that runs along the ply you will cut.
You also need a 3/4x3/4 piece attached along the top side of the hardboard that will run against a board screwed down over the ply as a guide.
Make a sample cut to find out where to place the guide board.
I found this jig works well and the long length allows you to get it straight as you begin your cut.
It may sound confusing here but really only takes a short time to make.
I will send a pic to mrb if I can ever get my stupid camera to download.
