I heard Al once say he liked to devote a week to tying
each important fly, at some point, so he could "learn how
to tie the fly." After determining a precise design and
tying procedure, he liked to stick with his routine.
Why make adjustments to perfection?
This Als Yellow Hopper3 shows (I think) an earlier stage
in this fly's evolution. Notice how this one has a spun
deer hair body, while the more recent versions have
a folded and wrapped deer hair body.
