Fred is a eminently practical guy who doesn't
get taken in by fancy fly fishing theories and oddball patterns.
Fred catches more fish than anyone else around here (in Bozeman
that's quite a claim) by relying on fishing skills: knowing where
the fish are and how to present the fly.

So I asked Fred (this morning, tuesday, 1/16/2007) where he used
these big drakes. "On the Smith," Fred said. During the drake
hatches there," he said, "smaller dry flies just don't work as
well."
