The good thing about this fly is the color.
Why? Beats me. Maybe it is the narrow wave length of blue light,
which allows it to penetrate the watery depths..and maybe not.
But blue do work. Bass fishermen have been tossing purple worms
for years, while westcoast Salmon and Steelhead guys have been using
blue flies too. Is it a surprise that blue is hot trout color too?
Thanks to Wayne Trzyna, who proved the effectiveness of itty bitty
blues to me on the North Platte last spring.
This one is tied on a #20 nymph hook, with titanium bead,
light blue floss body and starling hackle. I tie them
with dark blue and sometimes even purple bodies.
This isn't matching any hatch, but I'm a believer.
The proof is in the net.
