The flies in this collection all belong to a mutual friend, who knows Sylvester well. We drove out to Sylvester's place a few days ago (April 2007) and had a fantastic visit. Sylvester showed us a bunch of flies tied by a famous English wet fly specialist in the 1930s sometime (whose name I've forgotten). Sylvester said George Grant gave him those flies. Sylvester also showed us the Marvin Nolte originals that appeared on the back of his Spinners book. And then Sylvester showed us boxes and boxes of the most beautifully tied Sylvester Nemes originals. The flies I've photographed here (belonging to our mutual friend) are nice. But they're nothing like the elegantly designed and flawlessly tied wet flies Sylvester has in his own personal collection. Gray-and-Gold.jpg Sylvester said I could visit again someday, and if I brought my camera, I could make as many new photos as I wanted. I hope to do that someday. But moving my entire closeup light tent setup is a major undertaking. I may have to be content with what I already have. And these flies are pretty darned good. And they are Sylvester Nemes originals.

I do need to attach the right names to these flies soon. If you don't already own any of Sylvester's books, do yourself a favor and follow this link: Syl's Books
