| Elwood 'Woody' Combs
| Woody Combs, who suffered a World War One gas attack
| disability, ran a tackle shop in Ennis for many years. Woody sold the business to
| Jerry Morgan in 1958. Jerry's brother Tom bought the store three
| years later. That store is still there, now known as the Tackle Shop,
| a downtown mainstreet Ennis institution.
| The Three River's Special (Madison, Jefferson and Gallatin)
| was Woody's best fly. I've been assured by guys who
| remember the fly it was and still is a real killer--particularly deadly
| for large brown trout in the deep holes just downstream of
| Varney Bridge on the Madison.
