Hi Sandy,
I just thought I'd drop you a couple of lines since the new boat is done and has been checked for leaks (she seems to float and hold air).
We did manage to finish her last Thursday evening and we were ready and packed for fishing/camping trip at the same time. We left for our trip on Friday morning at 8 am and our destination was Fish Lake Alberta (just outside Nordegg). What a beautiful country is out there (about 300km NW from Calgary). We stayed all weekend and got the boat wet.
We would like to thank you for the wonderful plans you have provided us with so that we could end up with a great fishing boat and excellent family entertainment. Although she hasn't wet her lips with river water yet, she handles and behaves herself great on still waters. I was showing off to my family how fast she turns and how easy she is to row and they agree (just about made them sick while rowing pirouettes on the lake). Got some nice comments from a bunch of fishermen out there too. While we were at it we caught some nice rainbows. Amazingly enough my 10yr old daughter caught a nice 20" lunker she was (and still is) really proud of.
As a closing note, here's a set of your plans which didn't go to waste and you've made a family of city slickers really happy.
Enjoy the pics!!!
Cheers
Florin
