At long last. After I must have applied 4 gal. of epoyy and sanded at least half of it away... sanding... scraping...polishing... fairing... sniffing... gooping... shaving... shaping... sprayig... now floating!!!!! I Launched my dory in the Bitterroot (Stevensville) and took five days to get to Petty Creek on the Clark Fork. She is a fine craft and I am pretty proud of her. She took a few bumps on the bottom but no scratches, she took 'em like a champ. I am composing a report on all of the various experiences I had buildind from Sandy's plans and using various materials. I have a lot of building left to do in the winter to complete the interior. I think I am going to stave-off a photo shoot until I get things tightened-up. I did only the bare minimum to get on the rivers for the fall. The salmon are running on the rivers in Washington and soon the winter Chromers are going to appear so I had to act quickly. Thanks to all of you for suggestions and comments and congradulations to all who have recently launched. By the way... the Clark Fork, even though it has Superfund potential, grows some seriouly large trout. I
oke off a HUGE trout on 7x. After the very
eif fight there was a erie silence. The smell of burnt reel grease filled my lungs before I let out a long sigh, the kind of sigh that you feel as if you exhailed more than you actually
eathed-in. The buzzing of a failing drag setting still lingering in the core of my skull. My heart beating hard... I could feel my pulse under my hatband. Then I smiled big and
oadly. That was a HUGE fish.
