>Sandy: What length? Boat is 16'3" centerline, 6'-3" at the beam. Also, I have run a woodworking/construction business for 25 years. I've built all kinds of stuff from foundations poured on 8 feet of engineered fill to hand split tonkin cane flyrods, (and now this damned boat). I've made my mistakes, but have learned that EVERY time I try to cut a corner it comes back and bites me in the ass. Ask Jacob if he wants his scarfs to fail in the midst of yankee jim canyon, if not...

RE> Jacob and taking chances on a (possibly) defective
scarf. What you said about cutting corners
rings true too. I find myself wondering
How come I've learned that lesson a thousand times
myself, but I still haven't learned it...
Anyway, for Jacob, there is a salution that costs
nothing but time: cut the scarf and reglue it.
Then he'll end up with a boat that is one or two
saw-blade widths too short. Which is nothing.
