Three winters ago I started a decked HD. I got every thing built except the hatch lids. Then winter ended and we moved across the state, leaving my shop behind. The boat sat under cover until last month when I acquired a shop and started into it again.
Before that break I had decided I need to add some more glass to the bottom. I am in the process of prepping it now and I'm wondering if

I agree that it may be a stretch especially with a multiday load and low sides to have a comfortable seating arrangement and self bail. . I'm working on configurations and will keep you posted.

This is very cool. I may just not know what I'm looking at so its probably in the tables above, but would any one be able to tell me how much the honky draws at 1,100 lbs or so? I ask because I am trying to work out the floor height for self bailing rower's footwell, and potentially passenger footwell too.
Thanks!

Heres another gunwale question,
What do you guys like to finish gunwales with? Is any one using a sealer coat of epoxy, or just varnishing? I have also been thinning about sealing the gunwale bolt holes, and oarlock holes. I'd love to hear any thoughts.
Thanks in advance!

Sweet Sandy, and thanks for the great thoughts.
That is pretty much what I had figured. I suppose framed boats have the inwale spaced out from the side panel because the frames create a space automatically. I like the look of that. But I also agree about the need for the fulcrum to be moved out a bit. I guess the wider boat helps with that too though, at least when compared to the beam of a boa

I did a little searching but haven't found a direct answer to my question so here it is,
I'm building a honkey dory and plan to deck it. I want to build the the gunwales with the spacers and oar blocks on the inside of the the side wall. Sandy's instructions say to put the spacers on the outside. I am wondering if there is a reason not to go ahead with the spacers on the inside,
