Now just thread it on your line with some way to stop it 2" above a small trailing hook and you will hook them all in the outside of the jaw?

Well, assuming I get the boat cover and rock guard on time, we should hit the road December 14th or so. We will go south this time across, which should put us in Phoenix for Christmas and in Vancouver for New Year's. Then it's unboxing the boxed stuff for a while...
So starting this January basically. Actually Rick I am going to work for WSU the first 2 weeks in December. I'll b

Awesome information guys!
Rick I am looking forward to being closer to the gang of boat builders and the wooden boats gatherings will be on my list! Along with some rowing lessons hehe.
So I reached out to Jason and he directed me to a Bozeman company (Custom Canvas Designs). They usually work with the boat in situ, but they explained how to make a pattern for the cover and for the rock guard

Hi all!
Question for the guys here who have built one of Jason Cajune's Freestone guide boats. I finished mine at last here in VA, the oars are ordered, and the trailer just got done yesterday (hooray).
Here is my problem: I am leaving to move cross country to Vancouver WA in a few weeks (mid december) and am going to need a boat cover for that. With that timeframe and in my area, not su

I can't wait to see what you come up with. I just accepted a job in Vancouver WA. So not much tying and fishing for me this fall - I start in January. But I cannot wait to be back on the trout side of the country.

Fishing flies and lures
Hi guys.
Finally almost done with a Freestone Guide.
Lots of blemishes, but it has been a fun year and a half building it on and off.
I hate varnishing - I suck at it badly. So I keep reminding me it is a fishing boat, and that I am learning from my mistakes.I am mostly learning that no matter what you do, gravity will create runs.
The interlux brightside looks ok, but is still not very hard

Ah. good to know. I thought the wash was needed. thanks for the tip. I got the prekote primer and have used Raka epoxies. I will give it a try... nice to know I may not have to use the solvent wash tho.
cheers

Based on their manual the primer is compatible with epoxy as long as you clean with their special washing fluid - I guess since I ordered all the supplies I will follow the manual and let you know!

... for Interlux Brightside over sanded epoxy? I am about to start the paint job on my Cajune classic guide, originally I was just planning on filling with epoxy/microbaloons, sanding flat and letting the paint roll. What do you think?
Thanks in advance!

Just one quick thought FlyRod: when softer wood covered in epoxy dents, the epoxy is usually not as flexible as the wood fibers. That generates a crack in the epoxy layer and eventually, the possibility of water seeping into thawed and brewing. Now, cedar is pretty rot resistant, but food for thought. I'd consider oiling.

That is just wonderful Sandy. I lurk and watch your flies and lures all the time. My mind is obviously still in the box.
How do you fish this? swinging it or stripping?

Hey there. I am working on the Classic. Sanding the inside fillets as we speak. I did not have a problem bending the bottom, even with 1 layer of glass inside and 2 outside. I used a couple buckets filled with water to create the rocker. The sides are only glassed outside and that went well too for stitching. Doing as much of the glassing as possible when things are flat makes it so much easier.

Sandy - I enjoy a LOT your creative flies. I have no time for fishing these days so I just gawk.
