Steven Rice sent me some more photos of his 17' foot Beavertail build, plus a few videos. He sure did nice work.

I put them at:

Nice Build. I noticed that the rocker was diminished greatly. Do you like it that way?

Less rocker makes any boat a bit slower to turn but greatly increases it's payload capacity. You can put more weight in a flatter boat and still not worry about scraping shallow riffles.

My current boat (for which I do not offer plans) is a lot like Steven's. I made it relatively flat bottomed because I wanted to use a 20hp motor on lakes, yet still be able to row it on the Yellowstone. It works. In a rock garden like the right side of the Big Hole in the Maiden Rock Canyon I'd rather have a Honky Dory. The HD, on the other hand, wouldn't do as well with three adults two dead deer a dead antelope and a dog. Which I once did do on the Yellowstone. :=))

Everything is a trade off.
