Wide Body Beavertail Build

It's begun! Got the side panels up on the formers and the stem and transom attached. Straightening left to do, then will fit and cut the plascore bottom. So far a few mental lapses but nothing insurmountable (more to come I'm sure). Had to adjust the first former caused too much strain on the 3/8" ply. Adjusted slightly and wetted it out for an hour at most and it fell right into place. Looking forward to some more progress over the next week and will attempt to keep updates with pics. Thanks to all for the advice thus far.

Did you glass the insides and outsides before connecting them?

Just did single layer inside....see the other thread, didn't go as planned!

Boat has a bottom!! Long story short I violated my own rule and attempted a "simpler technique" for attaching/cutting the bottom. Nothing was simpler, I ruined a brand new Japanese pull saw blade, and had to pull out the 80 grit on a belt sander. I was not a pioneer, however it's now attached and awaiting exterior glassing.

Was wondering for those of you with Plascore experience.....from the other thread I had some trouble with glassing the plascore and Sandy posed the question if I had the "right" (resin barrier) Plascore. While that's what I bought, knowing I was shipped the right product is a whole other thing as I've never handled it before. The exterior is a fuzzy felt like material that's easily pierced by anything sharp. Point a screw at it and it gives. Is that the resin barrier? Or does the "right" stuff have a different/plastic feel to it? Just curious, I'm married to whatever this is now and it will work one way or another. Will have to babysit the first layer for bubbles when we resume production.

Fuzzy felt is expected. Good. It's heat melted into the plascore so resin can have stick toitivness

My Montana buddy Mark and I have been talking about a wide bodied Beavertail project, perhaps starting late this summer. I want to make video. Of it.

You should do it!! I'm hopeful mine will be completed, or at least fish-able if not all trimmed out by the summer. Hopefully stretching it wide will be the ticket I was hoping for. There are a few production skiffs that have similar dimensions as what mine is, so hopefully it will be what I was hoping for - a class I/II water fishing boat that can survive some bigger water surprises.
