Ducktail Mayfly

I think I'm done with small mayfly dry flies for a while. This is my "easy to tie" Pale Morning Dun tied as a "Ducktail." This is a #22 DaiRiki 125 which makes a finished fly at about a normal size #18. Because it has a smaller bend and a shorter shank there is less metal, which makes it a better floating fly. Duck flank extended body tied with the tip of a flank feather, stem and all. Senyo Laser Dub wing. Zelon hackle basted loosely below and then glued in place. These flies are easy to tie in the smaller sizes (compared to teeth gnashing over tiny tiny rooster feathers) and they dry off quickly. Even after catching a fish a quick rinse and two snap casts is all it takes.
